Potty Training - Take 2
So, let's see how this goes. After some coaxing today (well, technically yesterday since it's after midnight), I got Roxy to go diaper-less and try to use the "big girl potty." I even told her that if she used it, we would go to the toy store and she could pick something out. Well, no more then 30 minutes later, she was able to tell it was time to use the potty and gave me a look and a "Mom!" I had been asking her about every 3 minutes if she wanted to try. This was it! She smiled, ran super fast and within 2 seconds of sitting down created a wonderful gift for the porcelain bowl. :) Dillen was there, too, and we all whooped and hollered and, after getting cleaned up, did the potty dance. We all got in the car and headed to Toys R Us where she picked out a Big Girl Barbie Scooter (Dillen got to pick out a little something in her honor, too.)
We kept her out of diapers for most of the morning and she had two accidents (both pee). She wasn't discouraged as she yelled the first time, "Mom! I have to use the big duluh potty!" but it was too late as she was already going. And later in the toy room Dillen yelled, "Mom! Roxy's peeing!!" I didn't get upset but we talked about whether or not she had felt it coming. She said she did and when I asked why she didn't use the potty she said because she "was playing." We nipped that in the bud fairly quickly. She didn't have any more accidents but she didn't go either. Until tonight when I was taking a shower. She wanted to hang out with me and right when I started running the water she crossed her legs, gave a surprised look and yelled, "OH!" She started to dart for the stairs but I knew she wouldn't make it in time so I told her to come back and use the toilet upstairs. She did and when I put her on the toilet nothing came out. She grunted and when I told her she didn't need to push pee pee out but that she needed to relax instead, she rolled her eyes back and let her body go a little limp. It was hilarious. But after a moment, she said she didn't need to go. So, she hopped off and I got in the shower and about half way through she opened the door to talk. I think the running water got her again because she did the same thing. I shut the water off (soapy body, hair and all) and ran her to the toilet. I sat her on there and she said, "No, I don't need to go." So, I said, "Ok. Well, let me know if you get the feeling again." I started up the shower again and was able to finish without any more interruptions. When I was done and stepped out she did the same thing. So we ran to the toilet and when I put her on we both heard the magical music of tinkling on the potty. She was THRILLED to hear this sound and started giggling and saying "I did it!!" We were all smiles. I got dressed and we went downstairs where she received big high fives and hugs from Daddy and Dillen.
She was really upset tonight when I told her she had to wear a diaper to bed. She seemed to not want anything to do with them. But she was ok with the idea of wearing Curious George panties over the diaper.
Fingers crossed tomorrow goes smoothly. It would be so nice to have her out of diapers before the wee one arrives. :)
