Moments with Roxy
Dillen plays big sister more then ever these days wanting to help Roxy up and down the stairs; get her out of the car (unbuckle and "carry" her); hold her hand across the street; teach her right from wrong; teach her how to play games and do puzzles; etc. They still scrap when cranky and tired, but for the most part there's a lot of love going on these days. I attribute some of this to Roxy talking now more then ever - having conversations with Dillen that both of them understand and enjoy.
Here's a short snippet into Roxy's world from today:
Roxy: (Bringing me her naked baby doll and it's diaper) Mommy! Naked baby. Diaper. Do it, do it!
Me: You want me to put the diaper on?
Roxy: Yeah. Found it.
Me: Ok.
Roxy: (She ran off and found an outfit for the baby while I diapered it). Dressed. Peez.
Me: You want me to get her dressed?
Roxy: Yeah. (Pointing to herself) Beautiful me. (Then pointing to her baby) Beautiful baby. Aww. Beautiful! Uh oh. Dirty. Hair ball. Hair ball yucky! (As she picks off a small fuzz ball.)
Then she looks down and sees a plastic bird Dillen was playing with yesterday:
Roxy: (Running up to Dillen with the bird in hand) Dillen! Dillen!! Birdie. Here birdie. Say thank you.
A few other things in Roxy's world these days: she knows almost the entire Barney song; is learning Happy Birthday; knows her colors yellow, blue, green and red; knows her shapes circle, square/rectangle, triangle, star and heart; and can count up to 10 (but always forgetting a few numbers).
Truly, one of the best parts of being a mom for me: watching my children develop and apply new skills.
