Roxy's words
Roxy is saying so many words with ease and without prompting. Here is a list for the fun of it. (I think some of the words speak to her personality): hi, hello, bye, mommy, daddy, dee (Dillen), gamma (Grandma), ice, nice, no (a new one that has become her favorite), grass, swing, weee, hat, this, diaper, blech, show, read, book, mine, on, off, up, down, ouch, owie, polar bear, apple, cookie, milk, flower, nana (banana), yum, more, peese (please), tanktoo (thank you), me, knee, eye, and I have to just say 'etc.' because I am realizing there are so many more. She also knows all of her body parts, every single animal and transportation sound and she is putting two to three words together quite a bit ("hi mommy," "bye bye dee," "no down," "up read," "I love you," etc.)
She's also reached the puppet stage where she can repeat almost anything we ask her to. She is pretty clear with her words - mostly understandable - but what we find most hilarious is, after all that she says and understands, when we ask her to tell us what a cow says she puts on her thinking face, struggles for a breath, pauses with a look like she's going to explode and then blurts out loudly, "BEE!"
Wuh?
I am being reminded all over again how much I enjoyed experiencing Dillen learn a language. I remember the light bulb with Dillen - when it went on it just got brighter and brighter day by day. Every day brought new words and more complex phrasing. It's beginning to happen with Roxy. The light bulb has been turned on. A truly amazing privilege to watch...
